Yes, along with the folks at the Mirror Project and Harrumph, they inspired me to even start blogging all those many moons ago. 26JUN2009: NY, NY Canon SD450

Took this shot from the waiting room at my cousin's office at PS260, on Madison Ave. It had just rained really hard, and in the aftermath the clouds started doing amazing things. As the sun went down, the clouds were lit up and the buildings darkened to great effect. Beautiful...

23MAY2009: Washington DC, Canon SD450

Visiting DC, we had walked along the Mall to the Lincoln Memorial which was packed. On our way back we walked past the White House and as we stood checking it out, Marin One swooped overhead towards the south lawn. Obamania took hold of the crowd and people streamed towards the fence from the Washington Monument and the Mall. Unfortunately the helicopter blocked any possible view of the President, but it turned out not to matter since the helicopter took off and landed about 10 more times, probably for a photo op, just like the one that caused all that trouble in NY. Still with the billowy clouds in the sky and the monument in the background it makes for a pretty good image!

20APR2009: San Francisco, CA Apple iPhone

It was an unseasonable day in San Francisco, which I spent with Stas and LP in Dolores Park with a billion other Mission denizens. As the sun went down behind Noe Valley, I caught sight of the wispy clouds tinged red. Unfortunately all I had was my phone but the picture was still pretty good.

16MAY2009: Decameron Resort, Panama Canon SD450

I know it's been a long time since I posted, but I swear to you I have spent that time taking some amazing pictures. This one was taken from the beach as the squadrons of pelicans flew by before dive bombing fish yards away from where we were. I couldn't tell if they were on their way further north or were just very organized. While pelicans tend to be associated (in my mind anyway) with comedy due to years of cartoons, a friend expressed more succinctly why they are so interesting. It's their almost prehistoric features. They could easily make the transition from bird to flying dinosaur, swooping down from an alien sky to snap up tiny mammals. For now though, the fly against a pewter sky trailed by a sun trying it's damnedest to be seen.

08NOV2008: Fremont, CA Canon SD450

Headed home from the new job, I spied the moon coming up over the hills. It was big and full and waxy but not yellow in the way that I like sometimes. The camera and the human eye both perceive the low hanging full moon so differently. I wish I could take the image from my head and post that instead.
