16MAY2009: Decameron Resort, Panama Canon SD450
I know it's been a long time since I posted, but I swear to you I have spent that time taking some amazing pictures. This one was taken from the beach as the squadrons of pelicans flew by before dive bombing fish yards away from where we were. I couldn't tell if they were on their way further north or were just very organized. While pelicans tend to be associated (in my mind anyway) with comedy due to years of cartoons, a friend expressed more succinctly why they are so interesting. It's their almost prehistoric features. They could easily make the transition from bird to flying dinosaur, swooping down from an alien sky to snap up tiny mammals. For now though, the fly against a pewter sky trailed by a sun trying it's damnedest to be seen.
