Radiance

DSC_2249-02_web.jpg

Nikon D70, f14,1/400s

Getting 360° of radiance was pretty nice. At the time of taking this photo I thought the clouds looked like North America, but now I think this one actually looks like one of those cliche kitty gremlins.

Marin Sunset

Canon SD450

During my friend Larry's visit we drove up to Sonoma for the day and made it back just in time to watch the sun setting over the Marin headlands. It was beautiful, but so windy and cold that it made very clear what it must have been like to leave the port of San Francisco on the way to the Pacific theatre of war during WWII. The wind was fair lifting me off the ground, making my windbreaker flap like a flag.

Triple Sun

Canon SD450

Waiting for my sister to get out of the operating room, we sat in the waiting room trying not to think the worst. My dad suddenly said, "look, it's as if three suns were setting," and he was right! I walked up to the window and took a picture of the three suns dipping below the line of the prairie and hoped my sister would be there to see the image when I put it up.

Mission to the Moon

01MAY2006: Hayes Valley, San Francisco CA
Canon SD100

I was over at Dr Germ's a couple of weeks ago, and watching some pap on television when I noticed this sight out of the corner of my eye. My camera residing at my house, the good Doctor graciously allowed me the use of the SD100 and this is the shot. Had I had a proper camera it could have been even more impressive.

It's been raining for over a week in New England with no signs of it stopping. I'm considering building an ark.

M57 is a planetary nebula, which is basically a sphere of expanding gas from a star which exploded and shed it's outer layers about 6000 years ago.

Shot from my backyard in Shrewsbury. This lens is so dirty - and the shadows at the corners need to be cropped, but I still like the shot - the great nebula came out really nice and Betelgeuse is beaming at top left.
