Muppet Idol
I was in the paper! Last weekend I went out to yet another SF Sketchfest event. This time a conversation between Neil Patrick Harris (NPH!) and Brian Henson, scion to the Muppet empire. The look on my face that you see here is the look of a man who has seen his childhood and - more importantly - has finally been told how the bicycle scene in the Great Muppet Caper was pulled off (real time with platforms on cranes and really long marionette strings). The conversation took us through the corpus of Muppet work, with descriptions of how and why and the thought behind it. It was enlightening and moreover, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. To cap it all off, Brian and Neil performed a Muppet demonstration at the end of the show which was absolutely amazing. At the end we dutifully lined up for autographs and pictures with Brian Henson and his boss Kermit belt buckle, and as I blissfully left the building a reporter from the Chronicle asked if she could interview me. Was I too gushy? I don't care, it was an amazing afternoon ...
