"My God, it's full of stars"

Just a quick obituary for Arthur C. Clarke who died yesterday at age 90. Between him and Isaac Asimov they showed that the science fiction writer was not limited to outlandish Kilgore Trout-like musings. In the right hands, writing could make clearer the possibilities and inspire people to strive towards seemingly distant horizons. In his latter years Clarke suffered from health problems though he appears to have remained enthusiastic about science and the future as can be seen in his last interview (published this month from an interview conducted last month. Now he's over in the undiscovered country and I wonder what he sees.
