In Despatches
Briefly:
World Cup - Much respect to Ghana, with a little better finishing they could have won that game against Brazil. "By any measure except the score, they won that game," quoth Dr Muscles
Politics - US Senate misses flag burning ban by one vote. Republicans all for it for safety reasons: who wants to allow flag burning when you're wrapped in it all the time?
Personal - Can Ninjas Love?

This Congress REALLY wants to get an amendment passed that restricts freedoms. The Federal Marriage Amendment didn't come very close but their persistance almost paid off this time. We were dangerously close to banning those lovely American Flag bikinis, because I'm sure conservatives wouldn't want the flag being desicrated by the naughty bits of our nation's lascivious youth.
Isn't it enough that if we publicly burn a flag in protest we'll be blacklisted, monitored, and have our phonecalls recorded?
And yes, Ghana did play well. They played aggressively and kept intercepting Brasil's passes, which is absolutely necessary against them. Ghana was definitely hungry... hungry like the wolf.

Now if we can just get the other pressing issues of our day resolved, like making sure the Paris Hilton Tax is repealed once and for all and gay people don't go destroying my marriage. After all, this is a land of entitlements, not equality.

Les, did you just say "hungry like the wolf"? The 80's just called, they want their rouge and pouting back.
Still you're so right about Ghana. Fantastic!
Iain, the use of the phrase "Paris Hilton tax" is so brilliant I am actually angry that I didn't come up with it first. Well done!
